DUSTY REBELS AND THE BOMBSHELLS 2015

Inviting all entrants to the first annual Miss Bombshell Betty Pin-up Pageant 2015

The classic pin-up is an iconic image, rooted in early burlesque and war-time plane artworks, and yet very much alive in the modern culture that surrounds retro- and vintage subcultures like rockabilly and its associations.

Cape Town’s premiere pin-up diva The Blue Haired Betty and SA’s only rockabilly lifestyle festival Dusty Rebels and the Bombshells are inviting all ladies of style to enter the first and only Miss Bombshell Betty Pin-up Pageant 2015.

The Blue Haired Betty is the prestigious host for this pageant. She placed second runner-up in the prestigious Miss Viva Las Vegas Pageant in Nevada USA in 2015, beating out most of an international field of contestants, and has graced numerous magazines both locally and internationally with her image.

More about the contest:

Pin-up is a culture wherein being attractive and pretty is balanced by more substantial qualities such as intelligence, class, capability, confidence and a sense of ‘genuineness’.

Finalists will be required to dress and style themselves in one retro-inspired outfit of choice, and strut their stuff on stage during the live finale at the Dusty Rebels & The Bombshells Rockabilly Festival on Saturday 14 November at the West Coast Ostrich Ranch, Cape Town.

A judging panel consisting of well-known and established personalities within the local rockabilly and kustom culture scene will be asked to judge the finalists on specific criteria, based on the ethos of the pageant.

An overall winner will be crowned Miss Bombshell Betty 2015! She will receive a front-cover feature in SA Hotrod Magazine, a Harley Davidson hamper, a clothing voucher from Pinn’d Up Clothing, beauty products from AnonaMiss Beauty Emporium and more. A first and second runner up will also both receive hampers full of perfectly pin-up prizes.

This pageant – the first and only of its kind in South Africa – will be about finding a winner who encompasses these ideals; a girl who is a good balance of the characteristic old-school look and values, strong views, and the independence of a modern woman.

Submissions open 01 September and close 27 September 2015.
