A Cullinan Brewery…
Just a few more days to go before the Capital Craft Beer Festival! Over the last few years Capital Craft Beer Festival has established itself as an indispensable part of the Pretoria social calendar not to be missed as 8000 beer and music lovers congregate in the beautiful Pretoria National Botanical Gardens. This year, on 20 June 2017, it will be no exception – 3 music stages, over 200 beers on tap and over 20 food stalls!
The Cockpit Brewhouse Interview
I caught up with The Cockpit Brewhouse, one of the breweries who will be at the festival, to talk about the event:
Hi guys, thanks for the chat! The Capital Craft Beer Fest is around the corner, and you guys will be there – Please introduce us to your brand and the awesome team behind it?
Hi, thank you for the opportunity! We are the Cockpit Brewhouse, a small brewery, eatery and live music venue in Cullinan, just outside Pretoria. I’m André de Beer, the brewmaster and owner and my right hand man and brewer is Isaac Phungo.
…And the history behind the brewery?
I’ve been a home brewer since 2000 and creating the brewpub was an logical extension of my passion. So, when my wife kicked my brewery out of the kitchen in 2010, I started The Cockpit Brewhouse.
Cool! So, where does the name come from?
I’ve always been an avid aviation enthusiast, so I decided to combine the two passions.
And which is the most popular beer you currently offer?
My Mustang American Pale Ale is always very popular, but lately my fruit infused Weiss beer have also been very popular, especially with the ladies. My least popular beer, but my own personal favorite, is my Black Widow Stout.
With so many beers on tap at the festival, why should we come look for you, what makes you different?
We consistently offer excellent quality and are very proud of our product. But more importantly, because I’m such a nice guy 😉
Haha! Great! So, where can we follow you online:
If not at the festival, where can we come taste your beers?
At The Cockpit Brewhouse, 80 Oak Avenue, Cullinan.
Awesome! Thanks for the chat and see you at the festival!
