The Shaking Sensations releases ‘Sightings’
“Sightings is in many ways a classic The Shaking Sensations song, but then again it contains a fresh take on a classic setting and an ever-present unpredictability that keeps the listener committed from the very first stroke.”
Copenhagen-based instrumental post-rockers The Shaking Sensations has just released their second single, with a video, from their highly-anticipated upcoming album ‘How Are We to Fight The Blight?’. October 4th will see the release of the new album, one that has been six years in the making.
While the month of June saw a new and unorthodox, fresh approach to the genre with the release of the band’s towering first single, ‘Tremendous Efforts’, ‘Sightings’ encapsulates the well-known virtues and showcases a band capable of unfolding a world of lush, dreamy loud and majestic post-rock.
‘Sightings’ starts out with cascades of distorted guitars, synthesisers and the two drummers pounding synchronically towards its first climax, then dissolves into a long and somewhat retaining build-up, that gradually introduces new elements, while the drummers carefully open up the spectre beat-by-beat, period-by-period. The shimmering guitars fade out and leave room for the next part of the song to open up. From here chaos is evident and unavoidable. ‘Sightings’ unfolds into a sheer power display of guitar-shredding, thundering double drums and beautifully cohesive melodies tangled into each other towards the ever-looming ending.
