Watershed At MIX FEST [Interview]
Watershed at MIX FEST 2019
Mix 93.8 FM will be hosting the first-ever MIX FEST on 28 and 29 September 2019 at Cradle Moon Game Lodge, in the historical Cradle of Humankind, Muldersdrift. The event will host an incredible lineup, including Watershed, Springbok Nude Girls and Mango Groove, multiple bars and a pop-up food market. Be sure to get your hands on some tickets before they sell out!
I caught up with Watershed to find out what they have in store for the event, as well as what they’re currently busy with:
You’ve had quite a few shows so far this year. Any standout shows or highlights?
All of them have been really cool, from the more acoustic shows to the full Watershed shows. It’s all about the energy and the way the crowd reacts to the new songs as well as the older bigger tunes!
You’ve released a new album last year. Tell me about the journey over the last couple of months and how the album has been received?
It’s always great putting out new stuff. We recorded it pretty remotely as we live in different cities now, but it all turned out super well. Possibly more time spent with the sings and changing things as we go. It has been amazingly well received and seems to be pulling a nice new generation of Watershed fans!
That’s great! So, what are you currently working on?
We are always working on new songs but we also planning a BIG 2020 as we will be celebrating 20 years of Watershed next year with a new album and loads of touring. We have a big European tour planned for next June to get the new tunes out there!
Exciting times! You’re also on the lineup for the first-ever Mix Fest. What do you think is going to set this event apart from other festivals in South Africa?
The line up looks great. Things seem chilled and hopefully all this is what the festival is about… Supported by a superb radio station is always good!
This is an especially great lineup! Any of the other bands or artists you’re really keen to see?
As you say, it’s a great line up! Will be good to catch up with some old friends as well as see some new music. That’s what we’re keen for! We want to see some good solid new music.
Please share a link to one of your songs you think would give people a taste of what to expect at Mixfest 2019.

Lastly, what’s next for Watershed? Anything we can look forward to the last few months of the year or 2020?
We have a big festive season tour planned in and around South Africa. You can catch the band all along the Garden Route, Cape Town and surrounding areas. See you on the road!
