Exposing public space in Cape Town

“I think it’s important to have public debate on issues of city-making.” — Dr Luyanda Mpahlwa, Director at DesignSpaceAfrica and #FREESPACE panelist

The notion of public space will be in the spotlight for a month at the V&A Silo District as engagement unfolds at #FREESPACE.

#FREESPACE offers the opportunity to discuss and engage with the concept of space as a resource and space as a binding medium between people; from a cultural, architectural, urban and personal perspective.

Ranging from talks to panel discussions, workshops and performance, the programme stimulates critical discussion and reflection. Each event is followed by an informal drinks reception.

The public events are free to attend but online pre-booking is required.
