What is Hairspray about?
It’s 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland, at the height of the Civil Rights Movement. Tracy Turnblad, a confident and quirky, plus-sized teenager with a plus-sized hairdo has a big dream to dance on The Corny Collins Show on national television. She transforms into a local celebrity, but faces discrimination because of her weight, her choice of friends and her hairdo. Tracy becomes determined to use her influence to push for social change and racial integration in the show.
Hairspray’s timeless message is that everyone should be treated equally regardless of social, cultural and physical differences. With memorable songs such as Good Morning, Baltimore and You Can’t Stop The Beat, the show will have you tapping your feet and smiling for days!
Don’t miss this one.
