Johannesburg’s The Xpierreience releases new music
“If your neck doesn’t hurt the next day, you know we didn’t do it right.”
Johannesburg-based The Xpierreience has just released a brand-new single ‘Borrowed Planet Blues’. Written late 2019 while the band was touring the East Coast, ‘Borrowed Planet Blues’ was created to express the band’s views on how we as a human race is killing our planet and ourselves for temporary happiness. Just a week before the lockdown was announced, the band went into KDV studios to record the track with no idea whatsoever that everything they wrote, would kind of come true just a week later.
About The Xpierreience
From the mountains of the Lowveld to the waves of the Indian ocean, The Xpierreience has busted out show-stealing performances! The five-piece band with their unique sound that draws inspiration from the late 60s, early 70s blues/funk era, but with a modern twist, is a guaranteed party starter.
The band originally started out as a two-piece acoustic duo and their sound kept evolving every time a member would join. The band consists of Pierre Coetzee, Vocals; Xander van Zyl, Lead Guitar; Ivan Meyer, Bass; Jason Dick, Drums; Henno Reyneke, Rhythm Guitar.
Within the short span of 16 months, the band has gone from playing in pubs, to sold-out shows with artists such as Jeremy Loops, Fokofpolisiekar, Desmond and the Tutus, Sunset Sweatshop, The Black Cat Bones and Arno Carstens to name a few, recorded an EP (The Morning After), released a single (Mary Jane), and toured the East Coast and Lowveld.
