Tremor Festival: An Interview With Ricardo Da Costa
Ricardo Da Costa at Tremor Festival 2018
For the first time in South Africa Tremor Festival will be taking place at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria on 18 August 2018. The brainchild of organisers who have organised various music shows and international dance competitions, Tremor Festival will feature first class sound and production with an unforgettable party from sunset to sunrise.
I caught up with one of the artists on the line up, Ricardo Da Costa, to talk about the event:
You are quite a busy man! I see you are a director, the co-owner of a couple of events and you make music! How do you balance it all and what has been some of the highlights of the year so far?
Balance is everything, or else you will go insane. I’m lucky that “I’m living my dream”, so I don’t see it as work. I’m consumed by what I do, I go to bed at night thinking how I can do more, be better… but a round of golf per week and quality time with the fam is key.
Building any brand, be it your brand (DJ) or an event, restaurant, record label… all have been my highlights, and becoming a dad the best of all!
Oh congrats! What are you currently working on?
I opened a rooftop restaurant in January called “The Ivy – Champagne Garden”, that’s keeping me busy… I also got Electric Circus on the 25th August at Truth which should be big. Then my biggest event, Spring Fiesta, which I work on all year round.
You’ve been in the industry for quite some time. What do you think is the recipe to succeed in the South African music industry?
Manage your politics properly, whether you like it or not, its a part of the game. Do everything at the highest level you can. Support and help others around you, this may seem like an “individual sport” but it’s not.
Tell me a bit about Tremor Festival. What do you think about the line up? Any other artists you’re really keen to check out at the festival?
The venue is special. The line-up is balanced with the right progression and it’s got all the ingredients to be a great festival.
And what can people expect from your set?
Music that evokes emotion!
What song should people definitely listen to before coming to see your set at the festival? And please share a link!
What’re your plans for the rest of the year?
Gonna try to take a holiday!
