An Outdoor Summer Festival 40 km from Cape Town
Get your dancing shoes ready for a day filled with top local music!
Off the Grid Music Festival is an annual outdoor summer event set on a beautiful organic farm just 40 km from Cape Town. The line-up of great, diverse local musicians promises a bit of everything this year: rock, hip hop, afro-funk, pop, traditional and electronic.
This year Off the Grid will also start with something never before seen at a music festival: an appearance of The Cape Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble. This vibrant young act of musicians will be blowing you away with a mix of the classic and contemporary music. They will be followed by Bootleggers Blues Band. No Off the Grid will ever be the same without these established artists. The Steezies, voted one of the top upcoming bands of all festivals, will be up next with an afro-funk energy train that blends western music, African harmonies and hip hop in an explosive live performance with fabulous outfits. Then the Stone Jets will be welcomed onto the stage, a band that is quickly gaining momentum in the South African music scene with their fresh, unique brand of Afro Pop-rock and acoustic soul.
Radio Kalahari Orkes, led by well-known Ian Roberts, has toured the length and breadth of our land and no dorp they have visited will ever be the same again. But that’s a good thing. No, really. Except for Pofadder, but they don’t talk about that. They make toe-tapping music that smells, tastes and sounds like the veld, the air and the ryhthm of windmills on the dusty landscapes. Music that is thick with the kick of mampoer, jong! You will be hooked forever. All this will be topped with live electronic acts. So bring your dancing shoes!
Gates will open at 15:00 with DJ Jake Wildheart, back after popular demand, and he will also keep everyone on their feet when the line-up’s done, rocking under the stars.

Creating an environmentally sustainable event
This year the organisers also want to focus on making it an environmentally sustainable event, to tie in with the goals of Camphill Village. They are hoping to encourage groups to cycle to the
event, and they will even have a party that walks along the West Coast to the event. Along with these green event initiatives, there will also be art installations, a Camphill market, a safe zone for kids and an entertainment area, SAB tent and a variety of food stalls.
About Camphill Village Westcoast
Camphill Village Westcoast is home to approximately 95 intellectually disabled adults who also work on the farm in a dairy, bakery, cosmetics workshop and on the land. The Off the Grid Festival is a fundraising event, to assist them in becoming more sustainable as an organic organisation and to share what they are about and to bring the world to their residents in their home.
