A few words on Stone Jets’ new EP, Memory

Cape Town-based Afro-pop band Stone Jets is making big waves in the music industry. In 2016 they released their successful EP, What I Say, and are now back with a seven-track offering. It has been called one of the most anticipated South African releases of 2018: Their brand new EP, Memory.

Stone Jets is currently one of the most exciting, talked-about bands in the country. They have definitely found the right recipe for success: Working hard, making great music and generally being positive and confident.

The 3-piece’s latest EP is a compilation of beautiful, story-telling music. It kicks off with the lively ‘I Can’t Live Without You’, making you tap your foot from the get-go. Singer Given Nkanyane’s groovy voice once again takes you on a soulful journey from there through the rest of the tracks, accompanied by vibey guitar weaving through the catchy drum beats.

Their hit single ‘How Can You’ and the next two tracks, ‘Tired of Missing You’ and ‘This Time’, are all upbeat songs, even though the lyrics aren’t always, making it easy to listen to. It’s refreshing music you can replay all day.

Stone Jets Memory

The title track and ‘Give And Take’ are both slower tracks that balances the album out really well; the listener is taken through heartbreak and disappointment, as well as a few light-hearted moments.

The last track, ‘You Gotta Be Crazy’, is a personal favourite and definitely one for the long road – start planning those summer road trips!

Each track is a story, beautifully interpreted, evoking a type of nostalgia we can all relate to. It’s honest and beautifully produced.

The perfect collection of songs to chase away the winter blues.

If you’re tired of the cold weather, this album will make you dust off your dancing shoes and get ready for the Summer of 2018/19! It’s a great collection of songs and an album you can definitely add to your collection.
